In an act of selflessness and humanity, CISF jawan, Beeraj Hazarika, helps the poor in the remote areas of Assam; an act that is not known by many people. The CISF constable from Darrang posted in ONGC Nazira has been helping people around the area who are too poor and cannot afford new clothes or food for that matter.
Beeraj, who hails from Darrang district in Assam, had been posted in Nagaland, Agra, Haridwar and Kashmir earlier, even then Beeraj used to help the poor. Beeraj says, ‘I contribute 10% of my salary to the needy by providing them with the basic amenities. I don’t have any motive behind all this. As a child, I had seen many crisis situations hence I can feel the pain of these poor children, hence I help them. People have supported me and I feel encouraged.’
Beeraj is trying to reach out to more and more people in need using Facebook. He had even been approached by some NGOs in the past, but he turned them down because he felt that this is completely an individual attempt and he wanted to work on his own.
Speaking about his future plans, Biraj shares, ‘From August 15, I shall bear the educational expenses of two poor children.’
