Located on Cotton College Road, it is the perfect place to hang out with friends or even family. You can take your time admiring statues showcasing different dances like Bihu, Bor Taal and Ojapali. Since it is located near many reputed colleges in the city, it is easy to find student groups relaxing in different sections of the park. The best part is the greenery which will revive you after a long week. Also, check out the rock garden and open air theatre.
Eating out in the open doesn’t necessarily mean a picnic. At Foodvilla, you can have the best of both worlds as they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. There are many delicious options that you can sink your teeth into while soaking in the sun. However if it gets too hot on in case it starts to rain, you can always just move indoors.
Dighalipukhuri Boating Point is the place to go if you want to spend a day outdoors, boating and relaxing with friends. If you are going to enjoy a day in the sun, why not get some exercise as well. Get into a boat and start peddling to take a circle around the pond. If it is too sunny, you can also carry an umbrella to keep you cool. Take some nuts to munch on and make sure to take loads of fun photos.
The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden
This is one of the most obvious attractions in Guwahati. It’s the ideal spot to visit with kids and loved ones. Spend the day walking through the zoo, experiencing nature and observing wild animals. You should also check out the landscaped botanical gardens, which incorporate various selections of herbaceous plants, shrubs, palms, conifers and broad-leaved plants. A unique attraction is the orchid home that showcases 44 types of rare orchids found in the Northeast.
One of the most popular parks in Guwahati, it is located opposite to the State Zoo. The greenery and relaxed vibe of the place is why is it is so popular among the youth. If it gets too hot and you want to sit back and enjoy cool breeze, then drop by Shraddhanjali Kanan. But be warned that it is never really without visitors so you may have to search a little bit to find a quiet spot to relax.
