When you are a foodie at heart, it is hard not to notice new eateries that open up in the neighbourhood. About two weeks back, while passing through B Borooah Road, I noticed a new eatery named Piazza. I would be lying if I said that the pastel shade of the entrance had nothing to do with my wanting to visit the ‘ristorante’ as it says on the board on top. Honestly, it is hard for me to pass up anything pastel whether it be a cafe, a lunch box or even a tissue.
And so, after a few missed opportunities and failed attempts, I finally made it to Piazza last weekend for lunch. The first thing that I loved about the place was the warm vibe and classy interiors but I was not big on the seating. The space is relatively small and the tables are a little too close to each other so it is quite possible that the next table heard everything that my sister (who I had invited for lunch) and I were talking about. And so, it is not exactly the place to discuss company secrets and/or million dollar ideas. But if you are looking for a place where you can just relax with friends and family and indulge in some good food then this is definitely worth checking out.
We ordered the Popeye’s Omelette, Chicken Stroganoff and Wedges. The omelette was stuffed with spinach, mushroom and cheese. Overall the taste was quite good but I felt that it needed more seasoning and a little more kick, maybe with a hint of chilli. The Chicken Stroganoff was cooked well and the sauce was deliciously thick and creamy. The wedges came with three different dips; for me, the sweet chilli dip was by far the best accompaniment to the crispy wedges. For dessert, we tried the butterscotch coffee caramel sundae which was decent. It would be really great if they can add more variety to their dessert menu as I felt that it couldn’t match up to the rest of the menu.
The service was good and the food came out quite fast counting the number of tables that ordered right around the time that we did. Another thing that makes this place a must-try is the affordability, which means that you don’t need to burn a hole in your wallet just to indulge in a good meal. All in all, I have to say that I would be certainly going back for more!
