Shibangi Ratna Baruah from Guwahati was conferred the highest award of ‘Naveen Kalakar’, the ‘Bharat Nrithya Thilakam’ at the Indian Classical dance festivals ‘Jayadev Rastriya Samaroh’ at Bhanja Kala Mandap, Bhubaneshwar from 13th to 17th May.
A disciple of SNA Awardee Guru Indira P.P. Bora (Bharatnatyam), Shibangi Ratna Baruah performed Sattriya dances in the festival on Sunday 13th May. The festival is organized by the National Culture Mission supported by Government of Odisha under the direction of Jagabandhu Jena.
She was conferred the highest award of ‘Naveen Kalakar’, the ‘Bharat Nrithya Thilakam’ for her highly appraised performances. Besides, Shibangi also performed an Astapadi from the ‘Geet Govindam’ in Sattriya style for the first time especially composed for ‘Sri Jayadeva Rastriya Samaroh’ by Dipjyoti Das and Dipankar Arandhara.
She was awarded the ‘Nruttya Charisila Rastriya Puraskar’ by Prafulla Samal, Minister, MSME, and Government of Odisha. Shibangi Ratna Baruah is a Guwahati Doordarshan Kendra graded artist of Sattriya dance and EZCC empanelled artist of Sattriya dance. Presently she is a student of B.A. Psychology at the Assam Royal Global University Guwahati
