Manipur’s Governor Najma Heptullah, during the inauguration of Muolvaiphei Rural Health and Research Centre Hospital (MRH & RC) at Churachandpur district in south Manipur, announced that the Central government is planning to introduce ‘Flying Doctor’ and ‘Flying Dispensary’ in the hill districts of Manipur for timely medical assistance through helicopters.
The Governor further stated that during her visits to rural areas in the State, she found that although buildings exist, but doctors, health workers and medicines are not available. ‘People see the buildings, but they do not get adequate healthcare and soon they start losing faith in the system.’
She praised the service rendered by the Rural Health & Research Centre as a Non-Governmental Organisation for the people in general and the people in hill areas in particular for more than two decades.
The Governor also said that she is hopeful that Muolvaiphei Rural Health & Research Centre Hospital will be in a position to partly bridge the gap of the health care system in the district and will also be able to meet the requirements of trained nurses within and outside the State.
Those who have taken the trouble to establish this Health & Research Centre Hospital should be lauded, stated Heptulla. It may be mentioned that Dr Najma Heptulla is the first Governor to visit the area.
