Jeje Lalpekhlua and Holicharan Narzary from Mizoram and Assam respectively are making a mark at the on-going Hero Intercontinenetal Cup. The duo stole the show in a match held at Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri on Friday against Chinese Taipei.
India registered a whipping 5-0 win against Chinese Taipei. Though, Indian captain Sunil Chhetri scored a hat trick, Mizoram’s Jeje also played a significant role in the match.
Udanta Singh and Salam Ranjan Singh from Manipur added firepower through the flanks and the efforts finally bore fruit.
Again, Jeje Lalpekhlua’s strike in the 71st minute helped India beat the Kenya team on Monday leading the team to the top of the table in the Intercontinental Cup. Jeje also scored a brilliant goal with a pass from Holicharan Narzary to give India 2-0 lead in the match.
Jeje Lalpekhlua led the Indian U-19 team to the South Asian Games in Sri Lanka. Also, he scored four goals in his first three senior appearances for the Indian National Football Team. Holicharan who hails from Kokrajhar in Assam made his debut in the National U-19 team in 2011.
Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri who played his 100th international march on Monday became the third highest goal scorer in international matches next only to football legends Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who hold the first and second position respectively.
