Lalrina Renthlei becomes the second player from Mizoram to be named in the probable squad of Indian basketball team after H Laldinsanga. The Mizo basketball champion will join the Indian national coaching camp for 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying matches to be held on June 28.
He hasn’t made to the team yet but is in the 30 probables list. As it will be difficult, he is determined and up for any challenge that the game may bring.
Lalrina Renthlei has an excellent record in the Mizoram Super League, which is the highest basketball league in the State. He was named Most Valuable Player at the fourth edition of the Mizoram Super League.
Before he started playing basketball full time, he had represented India in snooker at junior and senior level. Lalrina Renthlei who is all set to join the National Coaching Camp from June 5 is excited for an experience of a lifetime.
Mizoram Basketball Association president, Malsawmtluanga, praised the Mizo youth’s achievement and said that Lalrina Renthlei deserved a chance to prove his abilities for the Indian team.
