Bollywood’s stunt actor Akshay Kumar, who is busy with the promotion of his upcoming film Gold, revealed that if he ever made a biopic, it will be based on the life of Indian sprinter Hima Das from Assam, who recently became the first Indian athlete to win gold in a track event.
He stated that he would like to make a biopic on Hima Das because he thinks it is a rare achievement for a track runner who comes from the interiors of India to win the gold medal in a track (running) event.
The actor also mentioned that these kinds of sports should be encouraged in India, and cited that India has been a little bit weak when it comes to performing in track events. He feels India should encourage and support that form of sports to bring out the talents waiting to be discovered across India. ‘India has great talent when it comes to running and it needs to be explored.’
After Akshay Kumar revealed his interest to make a biopic on Hima Das, actor Adil Hussain from Assam tweeted hoping that an Assamese actor will be cast to play the role. Or maybe Hima Das herself should play the part, he mentioned in his tweet.
