Assam Mountaineering and Adventure Institute (AMAI) are organizing a climbing expedition to Mt Papsura (Alt- 6451mt) in Northern Himalaya (Himachal Pradesh). This is the second occasion when a team from Assam Mountaineering and Adventure Institute will go for an expedition to the Himalayas. A team of 11 members, led by the first Everester from Assam, will take part in this expedition.
A Sherpa has been hired from Darjeeling who will assist the team during the expedition. The team, which was selected after one-month training, will leave Guwahati on August 31. The expedition was formally flagged off today by Pabitra Ram Khaund, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare. The flagged off function was attended by Muztaba Piar, Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Welfare.
