The concept of mobile multiplex cinema hall was introduced in Assam last Wednesday, which will help take quality cinema out to places where movie theatres do not exist. Actors Nipon Goswami and Zerifa Wahid inaugurated the hall at the Assam Engineering Institute playground in Chandmari.
AM Television Group of Companies introduced the mobile movie hall in the State. Sanjive Narain of AMT Group said, ‘It will take Assamese cinema door-to-door at minimum cost. People living in remote villages can watch any film released across India in their courtyard. But importance will be given to Assamese cinema.’
Mobile multiplex cinema hall is a new concept brought to India by Picture Times Company. It is an all-weather structure which is fire and water-resistant and the structure can be immediately dismantled during a storm. It has a projector, advanced technological equipment and can seat 120 people in an air-conditioned balloon-like structure filled with air through a motor, which is supported by a generator.
Singer Zubeen Garg, who visited the hall, said that it will help in promotion of Assamese cinema in remote areas and that people must cooperate in keeping the hall and its surroundings clean. The AMT Group is trying to have one more hall by the end of this month and 10 by the end of this year.
A radio jockey of All India Radio, Guwahati, Ratna Das had spread the mobile hall concept in Assam in the year 2013.
