International kick-boxer, Phurba Sherpa from Sikkim will be participating in the Pro-Kickboxing League 2018 to be held for the first time in India. Sherpa has been selected for the 60 kg category of the league, which is scheduled to be held in October this year.
She recently attended the selection trial held from August 3 to August 5 at the International Martial Arts Academy, Rohini in Delhi. Sherpa expressed her immense happiness about being qualified for the professional league. She mentioned that only the eight best martial artists have been selected in each weight category and the selection trial was really tough, among around 30 contenders in the 60 kg
Phurba Sherpa shared that she has had an interest in professional kick-boxing for quite some time, and now she is happy to be a part of the mega event Pro Kickboxing League. This live telecast of this league will be aired by sports channels.
Thirty-year-old Phurba Sherpa is from Upper Sumin in East Sikkim and is presently working as the State kick-boxing coach of Sports & Youth Affairs Department. She won an international silver medal for the country in 2017 at Turkmenistan and represented India in three other international competitions. She also bagged four gold medals in national championships.
