Commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Maharashtra government announced that Mumbai will soon have a road or a flyover named after the legendary singer from Assam. Assam’s Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sunil Deodhar called on the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and discussed the issue.
Later addressing the media, Sunil Deodhar stated that Bhupen Hazarika had spent a major part of his life in Mumbai and was involved with the art and culture of the city. ‘Mumbaikars have high respect and love for the music maestro.’ The duo also told the media that Devendra Fadnavis had assured them of taking the matter in a positive light.
