The Great Northeastern Momo Festival 2018 (TGNMF) is back with different varieties of delicious momos. As a result of the rising popularity of ‘momos’ amongst city dwellers, the festival has turned into a successful yearly event. In addition to great food, performance by different bands from the Northeast and other parts of the country aims to take the festival to newer heights.
‘The demand and popularity of momos is increasing, and we are just trying to bring people together to celebrate this love,’ said one of the organizers.
The festival celebrated at the Khanapara Veterinary College Field has around 35 different momo stalls. There are also stalls by chefs from North India, as informed the organizers. The festival has different game zones to appeal to small children and the youth.
People are loving the band performances so far. The performance by Suraj Mani, a prominent name in the independent music scene in India came as a surprise for music lovers on the first night. New Delhi rapper Prabh Deep’s performance was also well received but it was Moksh and Orko, who stole the show. Guwahatians are also looking forward to Alobo Naga & the Band (ANTB) who will be performing on the second day along with Arogya from Sikkim.
‘The crowd usually gathers at night as they love to attend the concert. Also, we organize some fun games and competitions in the evening, which attracts more people,’ revealed the organizing team.
