Union Government’s initiatives for clean India have spread across all the institutions in the country. In one of such campaigns namely, the ‘Swachh Campus Rankings 2018’ of Higher Educational Institutions, IIT-Guwahati has come in second. The rankings were announced by Union Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Prakash Javadekar, under different categories. The rankings were introduced by HRD Ministry last year to encourage cleanliness in educational institutions.
The award presentation ceremony of Swachh Campus Ranking 2018 of Higher Educational Institutions was held in New Delhi. Institutions were judged on parameters like toilet adequacy and maintenance, garbage clearance systems and various other criteria on campus.
Haryana’s Maharashi Dayanand University was ranked the cleanest government university by the HRD Ministry followed by Guru Nanak Dev University in neighbouring Amritsar. Among the technical institutions, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore bagged the top rank, followed by IIT Guwahati, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University in Bhubhaneshwar and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, New Delhi.
