After having successfully organized Guwahati’s biggest Poetry Slam (stylized, D̶e̶a̶d̶Poet’s Society), initiating the first poetry festival in the city (Guwahati Grand Poetry Festival) and collaborating with YourQuote.in to organize Northeast India’s first ever open mic event, East India Poets has now announced the launch of a book borrowing system cum community library in the region – The Komorebi ArtRoom.
Komorebi is the inter play between light and leaves when sunlight shines through the trees. It is also the melancholic longing or nostalgia for a person, place or thing that is far away from you. The Komorebi ArtRoom will be launched at The Tea Story, located in Uzan Bazar, Guwahati, on 26th October at 4:30 pm. In order to promote, preserve and celebrate art, East India Poets have envisioned ‘The Komorebi ArtRoom’ not just as a safe haven for book lovers but a creative space for artists, film fanatics and musicians, as it promises to host movie screenings, art exhibitions and acoustic performances, creating a platform for all forms of art.
The evening of the launch will be dedicated to poetry, storytelling and immersive theatre, a conceptual art which involves the audience as part of the act. Set to be designed in a bohemian style, The Komorebi ArtRoom includes a library, blank canvases free for anyone to brush their ideas upon, a stage for open mic events and acoustic performances and a special wall dedicated for visitors to leave their thoughts and messages on.
Poet and Founder of Poetry Couture, Madhu Raghavendra who has been a constant support to the team will be present. To join the celebration, one would need to donate an old book to get free entry, which automatically gets added to the library. However, for people unwilling to part with their precious collection, will need to pay a sum of INR 50 as entry fees.
