After five successful editions, the 6th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival will be held on 28th November to 1st December at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkhowa in Guwahati. Film personalities such as Boman Irani, renowned film maker Shakun Batra along with writer, director and producer will attend the festival this year.
The festival is packed with film screenings from all across the Northeast along with a few invited films from the rest of India. Also, interactive sessions, in addition to an exclusive Film Quiz- Cinemascope, panel discussions and highly anticipated award ceremony awaits the festival.
A short film festival is also organised as a part of the festival, which was open to filmmakers from the Northeast and for films shot in the Northeast or featuring stories from the region. Over 300 short films were received for the contest.
The top three winners will be awarded prizes of over 2 lakh rupees in addition to a trophy and certificate. Jury members for the short film contest include Reema Kagti, Shiladitya Bora, Ronnie Lahiri along with Bhaskar Hazarika, Meena Longjam and Wanphrang Diengdoh.
The 6th edition has India premiere screening of two movies namely, Rockumentary: Evolution of Indian Rock directed by Abhimanyu Kukreja and Spring Thunder, Directed by Sriram Dalton which will also be the opening film. Assames film Bornodi Bhotiai will be the closing film of the festival.
The festival shall also honour senior film maker Pulak Gogoi with Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contribution to cinema in Northeast.
Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival with the aim of promoting Northeast cinema and providing a platform for regional filmmakers. The festival also aims to bring in great story tellers under one roof, offering the audience a dynamic experience which combines cinema, short films, documentaries, interactive panel discussions and workshops.
