Kalpa, a society for promotion of Literature, Art, Culture and Social Harmony announced the 10th edition of Pragjyoti International Dance Festival (PIDF) which shall be held at Guwahati and Jorhat on 27th November and Majuli on 28th and 29th November.
Festival Director of PIDF, Dr, Anwesa Mahanta said, ‘Each and every year we try to reach out to people with various dimensions and perspectives of dance. Dance is a holistic art form encompassing range of expressions. The festival is curated in such a way that each participant both in the form of performer and audience takes back home a rich experience of the heritage of dance.’
Reputed Syrian curator and cultural expert Alma Salem will be in Guwahati for the festival, who will interact with the students of Royal Global University regarding the situation in Syria and the artistes are responding to the crisis. Also, for the celebrations of the festival in Jorhat, Lucrizia Maniscotti, Bharatnatyam dancer from Italy and Alexandra Vodopyanova from Russia for Mohiniattam dance performance will be present.
As a part of the festival, Kalpa will also organize interactive sessions, namely Voices, in Jorhat Convention Centre in the morning hours on 27th November, and at Vivekananda Kendra School in Majuli on 29th November, where the visiting artists will share their experiences, ideas and interpretations of their art forms with the students.
The grand finale of the 10th edition of Pragjyoti International Dance Festival will be held at the premier cultural heritage destination of Assam, Majuli on 28th and 29th November, at Sri Sri Uttar Kamalabari Sattra Auditorium.
