Popular artiste Angaraag Papon Mahanta along with Nilotpal Bora, the voice behind the hit Assamese song Majuli, released a new track ‘Mongeet’ on 13 November on the occasion of Children’s Day. It has been written by lyricist Manash Mahanta. Papon hopes that the song will be helpful in bringing about a positive change in society.
About the song Nilotpal Bora shared, ‘Mongeet is a prayer to heal the nation, to heal the globe. I am positive about our generation and I believe that a little realization can change the globe and that is the appeal of the song beautifully written by Manash Mahanta.’ He also reveals that it was quite the experience working with Papon. ‘It’s my first collaboration with Papon and it’s been an amazing learning experience working together on this project. It’s a privilege collaborating with this amazing musician.’
Papon reveals, ‘Mongeet is a prayer for humanity to look inward and be honest about everything we do. Nilotpal, me, Manash and Parashar have come together to express our thoughts through Mongeet and we hope people will like it. Information is not knowledge, and we need to figure that out and be clear about it.’ He also shares thoughts about present chaos in the online media space. ‘The digital revolution has confused a lot of us and we have kind of lost the perspective on what is right or wrong. Today, there is a growing intolerance in the world in both words and actions, so we have to be very cautious and not get carried away by views and opinions of others without listening to our own heart and mind. We need to be more responsible about expressing our thoughts and views on the internet, as we should be careful to build a healthier future for our kids.’
Mongeet urges people to open the doors to creativity, harmony, love and peace by enlightening minds, to see the difference between negativity and positivity between the purposeless and the purposeful and between catastrophe and genesis.
