‘Bandhu’ another Assamese movie was announced on 12th December in Guwahati to be produced by Amit-Deepak production. Starring actor Nayan Nilim and Jayanta Bhagawati, the shooting for film is expected to start by January. The script of the film is on the final desk and shall be ready by January informed the producers. Though the full cast and crew members of the film are yet to be announced.
Addressing the gathering Nayan Nilim recalled, ‘The name of the film was decided on the first day of our meeting for the film. The subject matter of the story is based on an interesting subject and hope it shall please the audience of Assam.’
Diganta Gogoi one of the co-producers said, ‘We are into the film business for the first time and are pretty excited. Though the commercial returns of Assamese movie are less, we hope to come up with a package of both commercially successful and critically acclaimed movie’.
Renowned actor Jayanta Bhagawati said, ‘Compromising creates problems in Assamese films. Assamese films are often compromised during the production resulting in bad outputs. Also, the craze for Assamese films has decreased over the years compared to Hollywood and Bollywood movies and we need to work on it.’ On the announcement of the new film Bhagwati said, ‘I think we should focus on marketing of this film, which is seen to be lacking in most of the Assamese movies.’
Manoj K. Das, former DGM (Advisory and Consultancy) at NEDFi present during the announcement offered appreciated the producers. He said, ‘Even after lack of movie halls in the state, the industry is growing through national and international recognition in the last couple of years. And I hope that ‘Bandhu’ comes out with such recognitions too.’
