Mary Kom recently signed a two year deal with sportswear brand Puma as the women’s training ambassador in India. The German sportswear brand named Mary Kom as their brand ambassador to help them promote their women’s sportswear all over the country.
Puma India managing director, Abhishek Ganguly, believes Mary Kom is the perfect choice for the role having won various honours while defying the odds, all throughout her illustrious career. Ganguly said, ‘We are very thrilled to welcome Mary to the Puma family. She is going to take our women’s category in India to the next level.’
Talking about her role, Mary shared, ‘Being a woman and a mother, I have faced several challenges that I have powered through, thanks to my family and team. PUMA as a brand has always believed in supporting and encouraging women, which made it a perfect fit for me.’
The 35-year-old was born in Manipur has come a long way in her amazing career and has won prestigious awards like Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan for bringing laurels to the country. Mary Kom won her sixth world boxing championship title in November last year. The Indian boxing star also won a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.
