Carrefour Signs A Pact On Food Transition With 50 Manufacturers

The Carrefour distribution company, with more than 1,330 establishments of its different brands, has just signed an agreement with 50 leading manufacturers aimed at working in favor of the food transition and continuing to advance in order to consolidate this objective.

The meeting, held in Madrid, was attended by Alexandre de Palmas, general director of Carrefour Spain and Jorge Ybarra Loring, merchandise director of Carrefour Spain , along with a large representation of general and commercial directors of consumer brands.

Alexandre de Palmas, has declared that “with this pact, we are going to sign a pioneering and unique agreement in Spanish distribution to lead the food transition for our customers”. For his part, Jorge Ybarra Loring points out that “the signed commitment reflects our ability to collaborate with manufacturers to offer our customers healthy and environmentally friendly products .”

This food transition pact appears as Carrefour’s global mission, since, apart from Spain, it is carried out in different countries where it is located, such as France, Italy or Belgium.

With this agreement, the signatories provide consumers with healthy options with easy access to clear and reliable information on the products they sell . In this way, a food system based on the reduction of additives, salts and sugars is guaranteed , which also entails greater respect for the climate and the environment.

The pact also establishes limitations on packaging and accelerates the transition to a socially responsible agricultural model that ensures biodiversity . Carrefour is committed to communicating to its customers all the improvements made by each manufacturer in these products.

For their part, the companies that collaborate with Carrefour have presented the company, for its evaluation, projects and medium and long-term plans. In this sense, the company will monitor the results and evaluate the collective performance of the members of the pact. Likewise, it will carry out a follow-up of projects and innovations to improve the offer of the stores .

Among the signatory companies of Carrefour’s Food Transition Pact are, among others, Acesur, Arla Foods, Barilla, Calidad Pascual, Heineken Spain, Kellogg’s Unilever Spain, Heura Foods, Colgate Palmolive, Capsa. Grupo Apex, NestlĂ© or Pepsico.
