Security forces tasted major success against KPLT at Karbi Anglong in the wee hours of Friday. At least six KPLT militants including two of their top leaders were killed in an operation which took place at the Banipathar area under Bokajan police station. Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police, Debajit Deuri informed that the militants exchanged fire with the forces inside the forest and unfortunately, an army person was also injured in the cross-firing.

Two top leaders of the militant group are suspected to have been killed in the encounter. However, the process of identifying the deceased is still going on. The injured army man has been taken to the hospital. One SLR rifle, one Insas rifle, three pistols and two grenades were recovered from the slain ultras. KPLT, formed in 2010-11 by a breakaway faction of the Karbi National Liberation Front after the KLNF declared ceasefire, is active in the remote areas of Bokajan.
