Films from across the globe will be screened at the International Guwahati Film Festival to be held at Rabindra Bhaban from 10th December onwards; this is an initiative of Guwahati Cine Club. Veteran film critic, author and President of Film Societies of India (FFSI), Gautam Kaul will inaugurate the festival. The inaugural film will be the Iranian Hush! Girls Don’t Scream.
Apart from Iran, films from Italy, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Greece, Germany, Spain, and Bulgaria will be screened. Some awaited films slated to be screened in this festival are: Avalon (Swedish), Ant Story (Bangladeshi), The Kids of Marx and Engles Street from Montenegro among others. This festival is dedicated to the life and works of the late filmmaker Bidyut Chakrabarty.
Some regional films will also be screened during this festival like Aarohi by Arup Manna and the first Rabha film Orong by Suraj Duarah. There is a single pass available for all the shows of the festival or a one-time pass for every show.
