Rajat Sethi was one of the key brains behind BJP’s thumping win in the Assembly elections in Assam this year. Now, he is all set to be appointed as the advisor to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Officials said that while Sethi would advise the government on various development issues, a key area for him would be helping the Jharkhand government register its presence on social media and use the platform to take its programmes to people.
The profile of Rajat Sethi
Sethi, who is an alumnus of IIT-Kharagpur, MIT and Harvard in the US, was part of the election team that worked behind the scenes in formulating the strategy that helped BJP win Assam Assembly polls this year. In his thirties, Sethi also has a Master’s in public policy.
‘It may happen over the next couple of days, or, latest after the Puja holidays. A name for his designation will be decided soon,’ said a source.
According to another official, it was Das who asked for Sethi’s services. ‘The CM has been working hard to generate awareness about the state’s programmes. But, at the meeting of BJP CMs in Delhi, it was felt that social media needed to be used more effectively for disseminating information and also facilitating implementation of these programmes. Sethi is likely to look at this aspect, besides having an overall look at various development plans and strategies,’ he said.
