In a recent development, Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the Cabinet Ministers to assess the flood situation of the various flood affected places of the State. He has assigned his ministers to visit specific places and take stock of situation there.
He has directed Minister Atul Bora to review the flood situation of Sivasagar, Golaghat and Jorhat whereas Minister Keshab Mahanta has been asked to go to Nagaon, Morigaon and Hojai. Similarly, Minister Pramila Rani Brahma has been directed to review South Salmarah and Goalpara. On the other hand, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has been given the responsibility of the Barak Valley districts. Meanwhile, Ministers Ranjit Dutta and Naba Kumar Doley have directed to monitor the flood situation of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and Majuli whereas Ministers Rihon Daimary and Pallab Lochan Das have been directed to review the flood situation of Lower Assam.
It may be mentioned that CM Sonowal disclosed on Thursday that a fund of Rs 100 crore have been released to tackle the flood situation. A sum of Rs 520 crore has been fixed for the relief fund, the chief minister had added.
