Amitabh Bachchan is the biggest name in Hindi cinema even today. However, despite achieving so much, there is something that the veteran actor regrets even today. He thinks that his decision to join politics was a big mistake, which he had only done to help a friend. Recalling his tryst with politics, Amitabh Bachchan narrated an interesting incident when he came to Assam to campaign for the Congress in the 1980’s.
Nostalgic Amitabh Bachchan
Speaking about the incident in a press meet, Bachchan said, ‘Those were turbulent times. I had gone to campaign for Congress somewhere in Assam. We were campaigning at a place where the opposition party had a stronger presence. The police advised us to leave the place as soon as possible. Suddenly, a young man came running and breaking the window of my helicopter, he handed over a chit to me. In the handwritten chit, it was written that the boy was my ardent admirer. However, he was disappointed with my decision to join politics. So, he opined that I should leave politics at the earliest. This incident made me realise that just because people love to watch our movies doesn’t mean they will support us in politics also.’
Bachchan’s latest movie Pink, a social thriller has released on Friday.
