For the first time an Assamese animation movie, based on the life of Srimanta Sankardev, will be released across the State soon. Directed by national award-winning director Manju Borah, Xorbogunakor Srimanta Xankardeb aims to provide a glimpse into the life of the saint to the children.
Although the film was announced nearly four years ago, it took time because of the lack of animation artists. The movie has a total of 89 characters and it will depict characters from the society who existed 500 years ago and people from a cross-section of the then society.
It will also be screened in villages for a year, with the help of a projector. All the cinema halls in the State will screen one show of the movie free for children at 9am on Children’s Day which is on November 14.
