Assamese film Handook by director Jaicheng Jai Dohutia has been selected for screening at the Mami Mumbai Film Festival. The story which revolves around insurgency will also compete in the international competition category at the fest which beings from October 20.
The film has been selected from among 170 entries across the country. Handook, made under Mayamara Productions, is one of 11 films that will be screened in the India Gold segment of the festival.
Handook, which means ‘a hidden corner’, depicts the plight of Heramoni, mother of extremist Mukti who goes missing. When the bullet-riddled body of a rebel is found, Heramoni performs the funeral rituals, only to be told that the body may not be Mukti’s.
