Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his two-day visit to Assam expressed his dissatisfaction over the border fencing work which was carried out in the Dhubri district on the India-Bangladesh border.
Singh while interacting with media informed that India-Bangladesh share a long border of nearly 263kms. ‘In Dhubri border there are several gaps, however we are doing feasibility study in order to stop infiltration in the state from that part.’
‘Besides two pilot projects are going on in the riverine area of Dhubri,’ he further pointed out. He also informed, ‘Even though the Karimganj border will be fenced by December 2016, but the Dhubri border fencing is likely to be completed by early 2017.’
