Christmas is not complete unless you have delicious and melt-in-your-mouth Christmas cakes. Despite what most people think, making Christmas cakes is no easy and quick task. The preparation start months in advance. But it’s all worth it in the end when you can share the same with family and loved ones.
Ushering in the Holidays
The first step of making Christmas cakes is the mixing process. Taj Vivanta, Guwahati held the ‘Fruit Soaking’ ceremony recently to spread the warmth for the upcoming festive season. The Northeast United FC team was also present at the mixing along with actor and owner of the club, John Abraham.
The Effort That Goes Into Every Bite
Amit Chatterjee, Pastry Chef, Taj Vivanta, Guwahati spoke at length about the process and how food lovers in Guwahati will be able to indulge in something special during Christmas this year around. ‘One and a half month before, we chop all the dry fruits together like apricots, cashews, almonds, prunes, figs and combine them together. Then, we pour in cinnamon powder, ginger powder and the combination of all the alcohols like vodka, rum, gin, whiskey and put in the box. After 15 days we will again mix it all together just to enhance the flavour. As a process of osmosis, the liquor will enter the fruits and eventually, after 30 or 45 days we will start to prepare the mince pies, Christmas cakes and Christmas puddings. Everyone who visits here will be able to have a flavourfull bite.’
