Picasso Pupils International Art Community is organizing an art residency at Sohra to promote the heritage of Khasi Hills, Meghalaya. Organized in collaboration with Shillong Public School, artists from at least three countries will come together as part of the initiative. To be held from May 14, it will continue till May 28, and plans are underway to make it an annual affair.
Some artists who will participate in this art residency are Uliana Mrvova, visual artist from Slovakia; Barbora Chlastakova, visual artist and art teacher from the Czech Republic; Gabriela Valls Schorr, musician, miniature painter and writer from Spain; Patricia Hillaire-Darrigrand, visual artist from Spain; Jan Praan, visual artist from the Czech Republic; Eliska Fialova, Dominik Bouma and Kateina Pakna, visual artists from the Czech Republic. They will conduct workshops for the local youth wherein they will impart their knowledge.
Some local destinations they will visit to know more about Meghalaya’s history are Tyrna, Nongriat, Mawsmai Caves, Mawlynnong, Riwai Root Bridge, Wahkhen, and Mawphlang Sacred Grove.
