On the occasion of Shilpi Divas, artists from all over the globe paid tributes to Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati. The event which is underway is being hosted by Olympic Fine Arts Association along with Kalakshetra Society and Department of Cultural Affairs. A first of its kind event in Northeast India, visitors can witness artists painting in real time.
Chief Add. Secretary MGVK Bhanu (home and political) also visited the exhibition and witnessed the ‘live’ paintings of the Olympian artists. Around 30 established artists from 18 districts of the State have taken part in the interaction programme. The event started on 16 January and will continue till 22 Jan. An artist from Myanmar, Mon Thet, has poured his rich tribute to the legend of Assamese art and culture, Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla as he painted the doyen’s portrait in acrylic on canvas titled, ‘My Honour to the Legend’.
