International Performing Arts Festival (IPAF) will host ‘Disha’ for the first time ever in Guwahati. It will take place on September 29, 2016 at Rabindra Bhawan, 6.30 pm onwards. IPAF celebrates art and culture of Assam and other Indian art forms.
IPAF aims to promote traditional art and culture worldwide to preserve the heritage. It envisions uniting societies and cultures with the fusion of Performing Arts globally. Apart from that, it also provides a platform for artists to showcase their culture and traditional values to the world.
IPAF hosts events all over the country and some of the upcoming events will be held in Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Varanasi and many other places across the country.
Some of the events scheduled for the Guwahati chapter are Sufiana by Shrutibritto Sattriya by Anita Sharma and Group and Bihu and other folk dances by Shrutimala Medhi and Group. IPAF hosts various kinds of events like Vayu Yoga, Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Sufi Dance etc.
The renowned dance forms such as Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Odissi have originated in India and appreciated by people around the world. However, several other traditional and folk dance forms still need recognition and appreciation. IPAF supports classical dancers, folk dancers and yoga performers worldwide to ensure the tradition remains vibrant and passed down to young pupils.
