As per of its plan of expanding the passport network to the entire Northeast, Passport Seva Kendra was inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh. It was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of State, Gen (retd) V K Singh at Itanagar.
Official Spokesperson of Union ministry of External Affairs, Vikas Swarup announced this on twitter. Regarding the development, Union Minister Rijiju tweeted, ‘It’s very important centre for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Now every State in North-eastern region of India has a passport Kendra.’
Setting up of a Passport Seva Kendra systematised the procedure for obtaining an Indian passport at the regional passport office. It saves lot of time and makes the entire procedure less hassle free. Applications for passport have also increased in states where such kendras has been set up.
