Guwahati is all set to host the opening ceremony of Indian Super League Season 3. The first match will be played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati between host Northeast United FC and Kerala Blasters. It is going to be a cracker of a match because Kerala Blasters have always been a strong team and Northeast United FC is looking stronger than ever.
Northeast United FC
The team grew better in the second season it is looking dangerous with its new set of players. With Nico Velez being retained, the offence force is strengthened by the likes of Uruguain strikers Sasha Aneff and Emiliano Alfaro.
The midfield of Northeast United has some exciting players. Katsumi Yusa could be the most impactful player for Northeast United FC as the skilled playmaker knows how to score goals. Along with him, the marquee Zokora and Brazilian Willington Priori will be deployed to ensure that we have the upper hand.
The defence looks robust with the likes of Nirmal Chettri and Mailson Alves. Salam Ranjan Singh, Robin Gurung and Gustavo Lazzereti but it will still be a tough fight for them against Kerala’s experienced strikers.
Kerala’s attacking style of play is well known. Their forwards Antonio German, Mohammed Rafi and Michael Chopra can be threatening to any team’s defence.
Their midfield could be the weakest link which Northeast United FC can exploit. Though there are names like Josu and Didier Kadio, their midfield will be weaker than their offence and defence.
Kerela’s defence is the strongest of all the eight teams of the league. The presence of their marquee Aaron Hughes who played at the last Euro Cup for Ireland will act like their wall. Presence of India’s promising defender Sandesh Jhingan and ex Northeast United FC player Cedric Hengbart will only make things tough for Northeast United’s strikers.
