While growing up in Sikkim, never for once modelling had appeared as a career choice for Anupama Bomzon. All she wanted to do while growing up was to serve the society. But alas fate had something else in store for her.
How it all started?
Anupama hails from Namchi, Sikkim and is a graduate from CMR University, Bangalore. The Sikkim lass has been working as a lecturer in Adarsh Nursing College, Bangalore for the past one year. However it all started when one of her teachers in college asked her to demonstrate a ramp walk during a class in Bangalore in 2012.
After that, there was no looking back, she says. Training hard and determined to make a mark in the fashion world, she got an opportunity to walk the ramp for Mysore Silk in Bangalore in 2013. To further her ramp walking skills, she attended a workshop with 50-odd photographers in Bangalore in 2012. The workshop helped her immensely as she was able to exchange views and get tips from her peers. All of her hard work seems to have paid off as till date she has over 25 photo shoots and six shows to her credit. Switch to a year later, she also got the chance to be judge when she was invited to judge ‘Miss Gorkhali’ contest in Bangalore.
Her advice to aspiring models
Anupama maintains a healthy diet and indulges in a heavy meal once in a while. She practises yoga and meditation and runs once a week to maintain her fitness. The young model however has a word of caution for all those who aspire to be a part of the glamour industry. She also advises youth to not indulge in drugs but to do something constructive and creative instead. Anupama is all set to start her Master’s course next year but intends to pursue her modelling career as well. She is looking forward at a lecturer’s job and wants to do her bit for society as a teacher.
