Everester Anshu Jamsenpa is a big inspiration and a symbol of women empowerment. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, was all praises for her at an event on November 13, where she was felicitated for her mountaineering achievements in Delhi.
At an event organized by the Adhunik India Foundation, Indian Railways Director Uday Singh Mina congratulated Anshu for her recent double summit of Mt Gorichen East and an unnamed virgin peak in Arunachal Himalayas. Adhunik India Foundation Chairman DK Chauhan opined that the newly summitted peak 6493 mtrs should be named Anshu peak. She is the first mountaineer who took up the challenge to chart a course through the treacherous blue ice route to the top.
Anshu with a fellow mountaineer Shanti Rai from Sikkim had unfurled the national flag on this peak on October 21 last. While thanking the organizers of the function, she stated that nowadays mountaineering is no longer about climbing mountains only. It is also about exploration and opening new vistas for new generations to follow.
Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the apex national body for mountaineering expeditions in India also appreciated Anshu’s powerpoint presentation on All Women Expedition to Gorichen range. IMF President Col HS Chauhan, Chairman of the expedition committee ITBP DIG Prem Singh, Governing Council member Col Ajit Dutt, Brig K Kumar and others congratulated Anshu for the double summit in one expedition.
