Union Government has no plans to revoke Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) from Northeastern region, this was informed in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
‘No, sir,’ minister of state for home affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in reply to a written question on whether government has plans to revoke Armed Forces (Special Powers) Acts (AFSPA) from Northeastern states.
Chaudhary also added that the government has not received any information from its sources about conducive atmosphere prevailing in the states for lifting AFSPA. The minister was responding to a question by PDP MP Nazir Ahmed Laway.
It is to be mentioned here, Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) will also continue in Jammu and Kashmir.
