In an unfortunate turn of events, key players will be missing for today’s match. Nico Velez has been ruled out for Northeast United FC and Helder Postiga is still unsure for Atletico de Kolkata.
Northeast United FC
This is Northeast United FC’s first match after their heartbreaking loss to Chennaiyin FC at the home ground. It is worrisome that star player Nico Velez will not be available for the match due to the injury he sustained during the last match. Ivory Coast’s robust midfielder Romaric is also ruled out for the match.
So, it is possible that this match could be hard for the team especially for Emiliano and Katsumi who were well supported by Velez and Romaric. However on the bright side, it may be time for new heroes to rise up and grab points for the team. This could be a great opportunity for local lad Holicharan Narzary, to show fans what’s made of. His performance can help the team end the first half of the league on a high note.
The defence still looks strong with Gustavo and Reagan giving great performances in every match; and Subroto Pal proving why he is called the ‘spiderman’ of India as he has had the most number of saves in the tournament so far with 27 saves.
Kolkata’s offence is also in a bit of dilemma as their Portuguese marquee Helder Postiga’s injury woes are not over yet and Ian Hume is yet to score till now. Their best bet for goals will be South African Sameegh Douti and Spaniard midfielder Javi Lara.
They will also be looking to make it to the top of the table as they are now positioned at number 3 just behind Northeast United FC with 9 points. Their captain Borja Fernandaz will be another key player for Kolkata with powerful strikes and slick assists to the strikers.
Northeast United FC: Katsumi Yusa and Emiliano Alfaro
Atletico de Kolkata: Javi Lara and Ian Hume
