A fresh charge of terror against NSCN (IM) has cropped up as its cadres have been accused of beating a man to death and injuring two others, who were consequently hospitalized.
According to Dishinlung Kamei, the chairman of Sibilong village, which comes under Nungba sub-division of Tamenglong district, a self-styled commander of the NSCN (IM) namely Gaichamdin and Athinpao came to Sibilong village Part–I, last night. They picked up three villagers namely Diamond Gangmei, Majagong Kamei and Mathithuan Gangmei and took them to Chingkhonglong village.
Mathithuan Gangmei, 47, son of late Kaichewjei Gangmei, who is the vice–chairman of Sibilong village authority was badly beaten up and he had to be rushed to Nungba hospital. He passed away before medical attention reached him at around 12.30 pm today, he said.
Diamond Gangmei, son of Diangamlung Gangmei and Majagong Kamei, son of Kushei Kamei who were also badly roughed up by the NSCN (IM) cadres are presently undergoing treatment at Nungba community health centre.
It may be mentioned that the NSCN (IM) cadres had earlier threatened the villagers and also had beaten up some on charges of harbouring NSCN (K) cadres. The Zeliangrong Baudi had condemned the incident on November 28 and appealed concerned Naga groups to refrain from such violent acts.
Sibilong village chairman, Disinlung Kamei had intimated over telephonic conversation with JNN that no reason was given by the NSCN (IM) for abducting the villagers and killing Mathiuthuan Gangmei.
He also stated that the NSCN (IM) has not claimed their hand officially. However, the villagers will not remain mute spectators regarding this incident and will collaborate with other surrounding villages to decry this incident and take up a future course of action.
