The BJP-led Assam Government’s endeavour to create more job opportunities received a major boost with Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Herbal foraying into the state with a Rs 1000 crore herbal and food park in Balipara.
Mega Industry status
Patanjali Herbal and Food Park will be set up on 150 acres of land. Not only that, the FMCG major is slated to create 4000 direct jobs for the youths of the State. The unit will manufacture a wide range of products ranging from cosmetics, nutrition and kitchen essentials. The total project cost will be around Rs 1,000 crore with an estimated annual production capacity of 6,57,000 MT. All this has led the State Government to bestow it with a mega industry status.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will lay the foundation stone for the mega-project on November 6 at the Assam Industrial Development Corporation Complex near Tezpur. Baba Ramdev and MD of Patanjali Ayurved Acharya Balkrishna will also attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony. It is to be noted that the FMCG major has been alloted 300 bighas of land for setting up the aforementioned park.
New Fiscal Package for Northeast region
Meanwhile State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is enthusiastic about the project and has reiterated the State Government’s policy to give mega industry status to any project involving an investment of Rs 100 Crore.
Sarma also admitted that work is in progress for a new industrial policy of Assam. Not only that, the State Finance Minister also said that the Centre is considering a new fiscal package for the Northeast region.
Patanjali Ayurved established by Baba Ramdev along with Acharya Balkrishna, is the fastest growing fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company in India. The baby products to noodles manufacturing company is valued at an astounding Rs 3000 Crore and made waves last fiscal year with sales skyrocketing to Rs 5000 Crore. It is to be noted that the company already has a food and herbal park operational from Haridwar.
