In order to boost the morale of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly elections scheduled to be held early next year, All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi arrived in Guwahati on Friday. He was accompanied by veteran Congress leader CP Joshi.
Interacting with ENe, a congress party insider said, ‘During his two-day visit, Gandhi will attend a series of meetings. Just after his arrival, he interacted with the members of self-help groups to boost women empowerment in the State’. It is to be mentioned here that approximately 400 women took part in the interaction programme. The source further added that after the meeting, the AICC vice-president will convene a meeting with all Congress party workers of the State.
‘Later in the evening, he will interact with prominent academicians, retired judges, technocrats and entrepreneurs,’ he further stated, adding, ‘On Saturday, he will participate in a 7km padyatra in Barpeta town.’
