In August, Silchar MP and Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Dilip Kumar Paul met with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and urged him to sanction funds for the renovation of the Silchar district library. Because of which, the Chief Minister asked the Cachar District Administration to submit a proposal for the same.
According to the proposal, the renovations for the four-decade-old library would include an auditorium which would seat close to 1,200 people, along with a library hall complete with e-learning facilities. In addition to that, there will also be a museum, an art gallery and a food court.
But the biggest highlight would have to be the multiplex with a capacity of 150 people. It is safe to say that after these renovations, the library will surely become a hot-spot for readers of all ages.
