Sikkim kickboxer Sushmita Rai grabbed a Bronze at the recently concluded World Martial Arts Mastership 2016 which was held at Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do of South Korea. She was among the 12 member team who were representing India in the International event. The talented kickboxer packs quiet a punch, she had also won the Silver Medal last year in the Asian Kickboxing Championship 2015 which was held in Pune, Maharashtra. Along with Sushmita Rai, another National Kickboxing Champion from Sikkim, Phurba Sherpa had also participated in the event.
After enjoying phenomenal stretch of form, wherein she managed to secure podium finishes in consecutive years, Rai now has thanked her inspiration, footballer Bhaichung Bhutia. In a moving note, Rai thanks the footballer for his support and expressed her gratitude. Here is what she wrote:

It is to be noted that Sushmita Rai hails from the village of Bhasmey of Majhitar, East Sikkim under West Pendam Constituency. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelors in Arts from the Sikkim Government College ,Tadong-Gangtok. She is also engaged as a Coaching Instructor of Rey Valley International School.
