India’s biggest river festival, Namami Brahmaputra, was officially inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday. The festival is being organized in a grand scale with twenty-one districts in the State are taking part in the festivities simultaneously until April 4. And with the Dalai Lama slated to make an appearance on the third day, the hype around the festival has reached sky high.
This festival comprises several cultural programmes — the aarti, film shows, exhibitions, and traditional sports over the course of 5 days. Here are some of the snapshots from Day 1.
