The Assam unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has strongly reacted against the recent comment of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi that the BJP and RSS had plotted to stop Rahul Gandhi from entering the Barpeta Satra.
Speaking to ENe, State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami said, ‘The allegation levelled by the CM is totally baseless’. He also said that the Chief Minister is trying to create differences among the different castes and religions through such a communal statement. ‘Satras are religious institutions and people visit them only for religious purposes, how can women in Satras be RSS agents,’ he further questioned.
‘With the initiative of Mahaprabhu Srimanta Shankardeva, satras were established across the State to unite the people of Assam,’ he further pointed out, ‘but, unfortunately, our Chief Minister is doing politics with these religious institutions’. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi told the media on Monday that he wanted to go to Barpeta Satra in Assam but RSS people stopped him from entering the temple. He further added, ‘They put women in front of me so I couldn’t enter the temple, this is how the BJP operates,’ he said, adding that the incident shows the mentality of Prime Minister Modi.
