Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is being trolled heavily after his recent rant against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has slammed Kashyap, stating that speaking against the Prime Minister is a ploy to get into news.
In a tweet, Rijiju said, ‘A new fashion has developed in India. A student or a film person can put a question or speak against PM without any logic to get into news.’ Even though the legislator from Arunachal Pradesh didn’t take the name of Kashyap directly, it was evident that he was targeting the ‘Bombay Velvet’ through this tweet.
Anurag Kashyap facing ire after controversial tweet
It may be mentioned that earlier, Anurag Kashyap had tweeted, ‘Sir you haven’t yet said sorry for your trip to meet the Pakistani PM.. It was dec 25th. Same time KJo was shooting ADHM? Why?’
He tweeted this in the context of filmmaker Karan Johar’s movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil being banned by theatre owners in four States, namely- Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka. In his tweet, he apparently suggested that he suggested that if Indian directors can be penalized for featuring Pakistani artists in their films, then PM Modi should also apologise for his Lahore trip last year to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif. Since then, Kashyap is being attacked relentlessly on social media. Even his film industry colleagues like Paresh Rawal, Madhur Bhandarkar and Abhijit have thrashed his statement.
