With Christmas celebrations wrapping up this weekend, it is now time for us to get ready to welcome the New Year. Guwahati being the capital is all geared up to celebrate the coming year with bashes, festivals and the like. One such event is the urban river beach festival which is given the moniker ‘Under the Sky’. Almost a month long event, it started from December 24 and will continue till January 15. This cultural extravaganza will be held at the Kachari Ghat, Uzanbazar.
Under the Sky is aimed to promote a positive image of the capital city to the rest of the nation and outside. Our mighty Brahmaputra will serve as a symbol of peace and cultural heritage. A lot of events are lined up for this festival like gaming, dance, art, outdoor activities, sand art, a bonfire, unplugged every night with various artists, food from various places, jungle maze in psychedelic, a 20ft Christmas tree made of junk etc.
The organizers also hope to create awareness amongst the masses about the preservation and restoration of the environment. For all the music aficionados, there will be an unplugged performance by Prakriti today and you can also experience the Psychedelic jungle maze. With good food, lots of music and unlimited fun, this is a good way to celebrate the end of the year. You can go to their website or their facebook page to know the schedule.
